Petaluma Day Camp offers a variation on the traditional Girl Scout Program Aide/CIT with our “Leadership Program”. Our Leadership Program is a 1-4 year program that trains for progressive responsibility in planning and running aspects of the Day Camp activities for the younger campers.
Leadership campers must attend the pre-camp mandatory training. We want the best of the best to support the Day Camp program. Training for 2017 is scheduled for Sunday, April 30th, 10am-Noon.
During Petaluma Day Camp, Leadership campers are expected to:
- Assist with setup and takedown of camp;
- Attend pre-camp meetings with your assigned younger camp unit and Unit Leader(s);
- Attend pre-camp training for Leadership; participate in camp activities during camp;
- Complete their assigned unit and all camp chores;
- Participate in their level-specific requirements and activities during Day Camp; and
- Attend Day Camp Sunday through Friday.
Upon completing their responsibilities and participation for the week, each level is bridged up to the next level and receives a recognition that is specific to Petaluma Day Camp. The current program has been in place 17 years! We are proud to have achieved a retention rate of 94%. Considering that our average Leadership unit size is 30+ girls, that is quite an accomplishment! We (Cricket, Tigger & Truffles) applaud the commitment and quality of service to the camp the Leadership Girls provide!
