Equipment at Camp; Social Media FAQ’s

Do I really have to label EVERYTHING my camper brings to camp?
Yes, especially if you would like it to come home after camp is over! Group living can be a bit chaotic – labeled clothing and personal belongings help a LOT! Each year after camp, there is a LOT of Lost and Found – most of which eventually gets donated to Goodwill. Please, please, please label EVERYTHING!

Can we/she post camp pictures on social media sites?
No posting images or information prior to AND during camp,  we insist upon adherence to this condition for the safety and security of all campers and volunteers.  We do monitor social media during camp. Violators of our camp policy will be dismissed from camp. NOTE: for 2017 we have added the Girl Scouts of Northern California “Media Information” to the registration packet, please read.

My daughter is always hungry. Can I send extra snacks or treats with her?
Your camper will probably need to bring a sack lunch most of the days at camp. Two daily snacks will also be provided to them. Our campers get PLENTY of food at camp, including snacks and desserts. Critters, storage and enough-for-everyone issues make food care packages a real problem. If there is food in your camper’s backpack (luggage or sleeping bag – if spending the night), a critter will do whatever is necessary to get to it, so personal food in units is strictly forbidden. If you do have concerns about your camper eating frequently, please indicate this on her Health form and we will make arrangements with her Unit Leaders to have extra snacks available.

Will my daughter be staying the night?

Daisy and Brownie campers do NOT stay overnight. Older girls will have overnight opportunities. Prior to camp, once your camper is confirmed, you will be contacted by her Unit Leader(s) for a pre-camp meeting which will include additional information and extra items your camper will need to bring to camp.

“Fly-Up” campers (Grade 4th for Fall school year) will be spending the night as camp on Thursday night.

Junior campers (Grade 5th for Fall school year) will be spending the night at camp on both Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Cadette I campers (Grade 6th  for Fall school year) will be spending two nights at camp: Wednesday & Thursday nights.

Cadette II campers (Grade 7th  for Fall school year) will be spending three nights at camp: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights. They also go home mid-week for a shower.

Cadette III campers (Grade 8th for Fall school year) will be spending four nights at camp: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights. They also go home mid-week for a shower.

Leadership campers (Grade 9-12 for Fall school year) will be spending six nights at camp: Sunday through Thursday.  Leadership goes home for a shower and camp-hosted pizza party mid-week as reward for their efforts in conducting camp programs for the younger campers.

My daughter is spending the night. Does she need to bring a tent or mattress?
Once your daughter is confirmed, you will be contacted by her Unit Leader(s) with additional information about what she will need to bring. It is possible, if your family does have a tent, that your daughter’s unit would like to borrow it for camp.

Will my daughter need any money at camp?
No, there is nothing to buy at camp. Everything that they need is provided. Please do NOT send money with your camper.

Can she bring her cell phone?
No. ALL Electronics and cell phones are on the Do-Not-Bring list. This is camp – it’s all about making friends, singing, having fun, and being silly. Camp Staff will have cell phones and we’ll provide you with a camp emergency contact number if needed.  This is a safety issue. Your camper can not use cell phone/electronic device as a time keeper (she will need to wear a watch during camp and use an alarm clock) or camera.
